Claude Academy's sequence from first conversation to building on the platform, all free with badges. Claude 101 gets you productive in the app; AI Fluency and AI Capabilities and Limitations give you the framework and the mental model to judge what comes back; Introduction to Claude Cowork moves you from chatting to delegating whole tasks; Claude Code 101 does the same for software; Claude Platform 101 and Introduction to MCP are for developers who want to build with the API and connect Claude to their own tools. Stop after the first four if you do not write code.

Before you start, Stanford context: Stanford offers Claude for Education (Claude Chat, Claude Code and Claude Cowork; the Standard tier is free for active faculty, students, postdocs and staff) and Claude models through the AI API Gateway for anyone building their own tools. Request an account on Claude at Stanford, then sign in at claude.ai with your stanford.edu email and Continue with SSO (the Claude for Education FAQs walk through it). For the platform and MCP courses, request an API key and follow KB00019978: AI API Gateway Access and Usage; PHI work must go through the gateway.
